Dreammakers Diverse Group Foundation received $25,000(CAD) from the Federal Government through the New Horizon for Senior Program.

The project will engage 100-200 seniors to:
  1. Support seniors combat financial fraud and train them with financial management skills
  2. Create awareness on the negative impact of seniors abuse among seniors and their caretakers
  3. Create awareness on government available services and support seniors to connect to those services

As our population ages, protecting seniors from fraud and abuse becomes increasingly important. Seniors are often targeted by scammers due to their perceived vulnerability. At DreamMakers Diverse Group Foundation, we are committed to raising awareness and providing resources to help seniors avoid falling victim to fraud and abuse. Here’s what you need to know:

Types of Fraud and Abuse

There are several types of frad and abuse against seniors in our communities. We want yto focus on three of the most rampant in this campaign:

Warning Signs

1. Unexplained withdrawals or transfers of large sums of money.
2. Sudden changes in wills or powers of attorney.
3. Fearfulness or withdrawal from social activities.
4. Unexplained injuries or health issues.

How You Can Help?
1. Spread awareness by sharing this information with seniors and caregivers.
2. Volunteer with organizations that support seniors in your community.
3. Report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities promptly.
