Seniors are often targeted by scammers due to their perceived vulnerability. At DreamMakers Diverse Group Foundation\, we are committed to raising awareness and providing resources to help seniors avoid falling victim to fraud and abuse. \n \n \n There are several types of fraud and abuse against seniors in our communities. We want to focus on three of the most rampant in this campaign:\n\n\nFinancial Scams:\n(i)Phishing: Fraudulent attempts to obtain sensitive information (e.g.\, passwords\, credit card details) via electronic communication.\n(ii)Grandparent Scam: Impostors posing as grandchildren in distress and asking for urgent financial help.\n(iii)Investment Fraud: False promises of high returns on investments that are too good to be true.\n\n\nHealthcare Fraud:\n(i)Medicare Fraud: Billing for services never received or unnecessary medical procedures.\n(ii)Health Product Scams: Selling fake or unproven products claiming miraculous health benefits.\n\n\nEmotional Abuse:\n(i)Manipulation: Taking advantage of a senior's emotional vulnerability for personal gain.\n(ii)Isolation: Cutting off seniors from family and friends to exert control. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Age-friendly cities benefit everyoneAge-friendly cities benefit everyone.
